The design of this home was driven by a few key principles, foremost among them the separation of spaces, while maintaining a seamless connection between them. The shape and placement of the home have been thoughtfully informed by the triangular allotment, passive solar design principles, the desire to preserve all existing trees, and the owners' vision for the potential future subdivision of the lot.
At a more intimate scale, the owners sought to create an "anti-open plan" concept. This approach balances connection and separation, fostering distinct spaces that allow for multiple gatherings, perfect for a family that enjoys entertaining. The design ensures that each area can be simultaneously interconnected, yet provides moments of intimacy and "cosiness" for more personal living experiences.
Every room has been crafted to celebrate the beauty of the site, with green elements and treetop vistas framed through carefully positioned openings that bring in natural light and enhance the sense of connection to the outdoors. These features create a dynamic relationship between the interior and the natural landscape, drawing attention to the surrounding greenery.
The overall atmosphere of the home is tranquil and restorative, with materials and colours meticulously chosen to complement the design vision. The result is a peaceful, treetop retreat that seamlessly integrates into the fabric of the inner-city suburb of North Perth.
